During peak season (March-November), especially on weekends and holidays, the lot typically fills before 9 AM. Early birds who arrive by 7:30 AM usually secure a spot, while later arrivals often end up parking along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, sometimes up to a mile from the trailhead. Note that this is a one-way loop road, so if you miss an available spot, you'll need to circle around again.

The 1.6-mile trail (3.2 miles round-trip) from the parking area leads to a 25-foot waterfall where you can actually walk behind the cascading water. The trail maintains a moderate grade suitable for most skill levels, though roots and rocks require careful footing, especially after rain.

Alternative parking options include taking the Gatlinburg Trolley during peak season or planning your visit for early morning or late afternoon hours. Winter visitors should note that the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, including the parking area, closes during inclement weather and from December through mid-March.
