Huckleberry Knob Trail

Huckleberry Knob Trail stands as one of Robbinsville's most rewarding hiking experiences, offering spectacular 360-degree mountain views from the highest point in the Unicoi Mountains at 5,560 feet. The trail follows a well-maintained grassy path that stretches about 1.2 miles (one way), making it an achievable adventure for hikers of various skill levels.

The trail begins at a small parking area off the Cherohala Skyway and gradually ascends through open meadows dotted with wildflowers in spring and summer. Along the way, you'll encounter interpretive signs sharing the area's rich history, including the tragic tale of Andy Sherman, whose memorial marker sits near the summit.

What makes this hiking area special is the remarkable effort-to-reward ratio. Unlike many mountain-top views that require strenuous climbing, Huckleberry Knob delivers stunning vistas after a relatively gentle ascent. The summit offers clear views of the Great Smoky Mountains, with particularly impressive displays during sunrise and sunset.

The trail is open year-round and free to access.
