Reagan's House of Pancakes

We've been hitting up Reagan's House of Pancakes since our kids were little, and it's one of those places that just works. Family-owned since 1986, they run two spots on the Parkway — one near the LeConte Center and another up by Dollywood Lane. The breakfast buffet has over 20 items, but honestly, we come for the pancakes and that country gravy that's probably not great for us but tastes like home.

Get there right when they open at 7 AM if you can. By 10 AM on weekends, you're looking at a wait, especially during fall when the leaf-lookers descend on Pigeon Forge.

The buffet shuts down at 12:30 PM sharp, which catches people off guard — this isn't one of those all-day breakfast places. They do serve lunch after 11 AM from the regular menu, but let's be real, you're here for breakfast. The scrambled eggs stay fresh because they turn them over constantly, and the hash browns actually have some crisp to them instead of being soggy like most buffet potatoes.

One thing we learned the hard way — if you're gluten-free, stick to eggs and meat. The pancakes, waffles, and French toast all have gluten, which our niece found out after getting excited about the buffet spread.

Both locations have their own parking lots, thank goodness, because finding a spot on the Parkway during busy season is basically impossible. Call ahead if you've got a big group — they're good about setting aside space. It's not fancy, but the servers keep your coffee full and don't hover, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to fuel up before tackling Dollywood or the national park.
