About The Peddler Steakhouse
We've been eating at The Peddler since it opened in 1969, and honestly, it's one of those places that just gets steak right. They carve your Certified Angus Beef right at your table, which feels a little old-school fancy but in the best way. The salad bar comes with every steak and it's actually worth loading up on — fresh marinated mushrooms, roasted peppers, house-made dressings that don't taste like they came from a bottle.
The riverside location on the Little Pigeon River makes it feel removed from the Parkway chaos, even though you're only minutes from downtown. Request a river table when you call for reservations, which you absolutely need to do unless you want to wait two hours on a Saturday night.
Fair warning: this isn't a cheap dinner. Steaks run $40-60 and the servers will try to upsell you on drinks and desserts pretty hard. We usually just stick with water and focus on the steak, which honestly is big enough to share if you hit the salad bar first.
The stone chimney and that hand-painted mural give it a mountain lodge vibe that feels authentic, not touristy. They open at 4:30 on Saturdays and 5pm the rest of the week — no lunch service. Get there right when they open if you can swing it, because by 6pm every table is full and stays that way until closing.
